ECHOES FROM THE BORDERLANDS: STUDY TWO

"Echoes from the Borderlands: Study Two is an immersive sound installation created by Valeria Luiselli, Ricardo Giraldo, and Leo Heiblum. This multifaceted project explores the histories of violence that have shaped the U.S.–Mexico border, guiding visitors on a sonic journey that begins on the Pacific coast between Tijuana and San Diego and stretches eastward to the Gulf of Mexico. Audiences are invited to immerse themselves in this vast territory, which for centuries has been marked by social, political, and economic conflict.

Echoes from the Borderlands brings to the forefront the stories and lived experiences of border communities, inviting us to reflect on the violence and resilience that define these landscapes. The project's strength lies in its ability to address political realities through the language of art, encouraging a layered form of listening—not only to the land and its present-day inhabitants, but also to the echoes of the past that continue to resonate today.
