"The Story of the Bear is an atypical, rare, and precious album of more than 400 fully illustrated pages, which depicts the initiatory journey of a young man doing his community service as a nurse in an ambulance in the Apennines.
The red thread of the tale is a news story that the author discovers from a Slovenian newspaper. It is the story of the escape of a wounded wild bear that wanders between Italy and Germany, pursued by a group of hunters whose task is to shoot it down.
The first time I heard about the bear, I was in Gorizia. From a local newspaper, I cut out a photograph of the Bear standing, paws like arms lowered. He is looking straight at me."
